Feasibility of using electronic health records to identify who are the fathers of dependent children attending substance use treatment in SLaM services

Lead Applicant Name :

Lay Summary :
Assessing parental status of men in electronic health records might be potentially more difficult than identifying mothers as they might avoid scrutiny of identification by public agencies where there are serious child welfare concerns. We aim to scope whether it is possible to use the CRIS to ascertain (without identification) who are the fathers of dependent children attending treatment for substance use, and whether it is possible to determine the factors associated with safeguarding risks or retaining care of children among these fathers.<br/>
