Using electronic health records to identify inequalities in pathways to care, treatment inequalities and care needs: A study of refugee and asylum seeker groups

  • Applicant: Jayati Das-Munshi
  • Project ID: 18-121

Recent decades have witnessed large-scale movements of people into Europe and the United Kingdom, fleeing civil war, conflict and political instability. Refugee or asylum seeker groups into the UK are under-served and hard-to-reach populations who may suffer from mental and physical disorders, which may be apparent in the short, medium and longer term. This project will seek to assess whether large-scale routine electronic health record resources from the UK can be used to identify these groups of people, and linked to this, be used to identify mental health needs.
