Relative and absolute risks across disease categories for people who use heroin and crack

  • Applicant: Dan Lewer
  • Project ID: 18-122

Most research into the health of people who use heroin and crack has focused on problems that are associated with drug use and rare in the general population. Examples are blood-borne viruses (like hepatitis C and HIV) and drug overdoses. This project will use hospital admissions and mortality data to investigate the importance of other diseases such as cancer and heart problems, which have received less attention.
