The profile of alcohol use in suicidal crisis (Home Treatment Team)

  • Applicant: John Robins
  • Project ID: 20-007

The nature and severity of alcohol use amongst patients under the care of the Home Treatment Team following a suicidal crisis has yet to be explored in detail. This research will explore the associations of alcohol use category (low risk, increasing risk, high risk, and possibly dependent, defined by AUDIT score) with use of unplanned emergency psychiatric care (i.e. contact with Liaison Psychiatry, Place of Safety or referral for admission by HTT i.e. ARC) during a Home Treatment Team episode, and potentially with other adverse outcomes such as mortality.

The Clinical Record Interactive Search (CRIS) system is a computer system that allows researchers at the NIHR Maudsley Biomedical Research Centre (BRC) to carry out research using information from South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust clinical records.
