The Phenomenology of Sexual Thoughts in People with OCD and Sexual Offenders | C4C

  • Applicant: Jess Simmonds
  • Project ID: 20-044

There is a lot of confusion amoungst clinicians when it comes to risk assessing people with OCD with sexual intrusive thoughts about children, and misdiagnoses are common (e.g. referrals to police as patients are misdiagnosed as sexual offenders or paedophiles). This project will explore the differences in how sexual thoughts are experienced in both sexual offenders and people with OCD and our findings will inform both assessment and interventions for people with experience sexual thoughts.
