Description of ascertained violence experiences across SLaM records

  • Applicant: Robert Stewart
  • Project ID: 21-068

We have recently developed ‘natural language processing’ algorithms that ascertain recorded violence instances in CRIS (from text fields) and some of their characteristics – for example, whether the patient was described as receiving or perpetrating the violence, and the nature/context of the violence (physical, sexual, domestic). This study will describe the demographic characteristics and service settings associated with these records in order to provide some contextual information of use for further studies.

The Clinical Record Interactive Search (CRIS) system is a computer system that allows researchers at the NIHR Maudsley Biomedical Research Centre (BRC) to carry out research using information from South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust clinical records.
