Surveillance for self-harm presentations over the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond

There have been concerns about self-harm and whether presentations might have increased because of multiple stresses experienced by SLaM’s local population as part of the COVID-19 pandemic. This project will continue the ongoing surveillance of self-harm presentations seen in Emergency Departments by SLaM services to measure how common these are and whether there are any changes in the presentations.

The Clinical Record Interactive Search (CRIS) system is a computer system that allows researchers at the NIHR Maudsley Biomedical Research Centre (BRC) to carry out research using information from South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust clinical records.
