We would like to study how Gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) and glutamate chemicals in the brain change and the cognitive abilities in patients who take antipsychotics and respond to them and in patients who take antipsychotics but have not responded to them. We will use a non-invasive brain stimulation technique called transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) to stimulate GABA and glutamate brain chemicals and record the response of the brain to the stimulation with a neuroimaging technique called electroencephalogram (EEG), and administer thinking ability tests to assess participants’ cognition.
