Effects of external Trigeminal Nerve Stimulation in ADHD and mechanism of action (ATTENS) | C4C

  • Applicant: Lena Johansson
  • Project ID: 22-076

The ATTENS project is a multicentre, randomised, double-blind, sham-controlled confirmatory trial testing a novel non-medical device-based treatment for children and adolescents with ADHD, that has shown promise in a US proof of concept study, called external trigeminal nerve stimulation (eTNS). eTNS consists of a battery-charged small electrical stimulation over the forehead which will be applied for 4 weeks every night while the children sleep. We will test effects on clinical symptoms of ADHD (primary outcome) as well as secondary clinical problems, cognitive functions, and brain activation.
