Antidepressant use in early dementia

Antidepressants are frequently prescribed to people who are developing dementia, but are not usually helpful for symptoms of dementia. We will look at data for people around the time of dementia diagnosis to see who receives antidepressants and whether they had evidence of a disorder for which antidepressants are a recognised treatment.

The Clinical Record Interactive Search (CRIS) system is a computer system that allows researchers at the NIHR Maudsley Biomedical Research Centre (BRC) to carry out research using information from South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust clinical records.
