  • Applicant: Claire Henderson
  • Project ID: 23-013

The UK government has committed to legislating for advance statements following their recommendation by the Independent Review of the Mental Health Act (2018), based on ethical and legal arguments as well as evidence that their use can reduce rates of detention under the Mental Health Act, which Black people are disproportionately affected by. The purpose of AdStAC is to co-produce, test and refine for wider use an advance statements implementation resource for Black people previously detained under the (MHA).
