Covid CYPHER survey - longitudinal view

There have been increasing concerns that children and young people (CYP) with pre-existing mental health problems may have been particularly affected over the course of the Covid pandemic. However, it is unclear which diagnostic groups have been most affected, and may need more support from Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS), and what the risk factors are. To address this, SLaM have commissioned a cohort study to track how young people and their families were coping over the course of the pandemic. We surveyed young people/families at three time points and integrated survey data into the health care records. This project combines the information provided by caregivers and young people who completed the Covid survey with in-depth information on clinical and service characteristics provided by CRIS. Analyses of these data will provide us with a clearer picture of which groups have been most affected and may need more clinical support.

The Clinical Record Interactive Search (CRIS) system is a computer system that allows researchers at the NIHR Maudsley Biomedical Research Centre (BRC) to carry out research using information from South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust clinical records.
