An audit of myocarditis monitoring during clozapine treatment

  • Applicant: Eromona Whiskey
  • Project ID: 23-032

Clozapine may rarely cause myocarditis. Current guidelines states that if troponin level is twice the upper limit of normal or if C-Reactive protein is greater than 100mg/l, clozapine should be stopped. It is unclear if the guidelines are accurate in the diagnosis of myocarditis. This project aims to determine what happens when patients record either of these results, how soon it happens after clozapine is started and if clozapine is discontinued according to the protocol.
