Referrals from CAMHS to Children’s Services: a mixed methods analysis of rejected referrals

Sometimes services disagree about who is best placed to help a child; this can delay a child receiving appropriate help. The qualitative element of this project aims to explore how interpretations of “safeguarding” thresholds differ between CAMHS and Children’s Services, whilst the quantitative component seeks to understand the characteristics of children whose referral from CAMHS to Children’s Services does not lead to intervention.

The Clinical Record Interactive Search (CRIS) system is a computer system that allows researchers at the NIHR Maudsley Biomedical Research Centre (BRC) to carry out research using information from South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust clinical records.
