Severe mental illness is a cause and consequence of health inequalities which increase health service use and costs, especially in highly costly diseases as type 2 diabetes. This project will examine the impact of inequalities on the costs associated with treating type 2 diabetes (T2DM) and severe mental illness (SMI).

The Clinical Record Interactive Search (CRIS) system is a computer system that allows researchers at the NIHR Maudsley Biomedical Research Centre (BRC) to carry out research using information from South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust clinical records.
