Investigating the co-occurrence of alcohol use disorder with bipolar disorder and its associations with adverse clinical outcomes

Alcohol use disorder may co-occur frequently with bipolar disorder but its impact needs to be clarified. This project will develop a means of ascertaining alcohol use disorder and/or heavy alcohol consumption from clinical text and will investigate its frequency and associations with clinical outcomes in people with a diagnosis of bipolar disorder.
