Emotional/financial abuse experiences in older adults

Concerns about emotional and/or financial abuse are common reasons for safeguarding referrals in older adults but there has been very little investigation into how frequent they are in mental healthcare or about clinical consequences. This study will use recently-developed techniques for ascertaining recorded emotional/financial abuse in CRIS in order to describe frequency of recording, demographic and clinical groups most affected, and associations with clinical outcomes.

The Clinical Record Interactive Search (CRIS) system is a computer system that allows researchers at the NIHR Maudsley Biomedical Research Centre (BRC) to carry out research using information from South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust clinical records.
