Transitions from Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) to Adult Mental Health Services (AMHS): A quantitative study examining referral decisions and diagnostic continuity of young people who have been accepted, accepted on re-referral and rejected from AMHS.
Many young people experience a significant disruption of care when transitioning from CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services) to AMHS (Adult Mental Health Services) and although some have been found to be more likely to “fall through this transition gap”, research into their access to AMHS is limited. This project aims to address this gap in literature by providing an account of the sociodemographic factors, clinical needs and social care needs associated with accepted and rejected referrals for young people with mental health difficulties who undergo this transition.
