Mothers on the Margins: perinatal mental health support for mothers at risk of having an infant removed from their care

Mothers who undergo care proceedings with an infant often have complex needs but little is known about their engagement with mental health services. This project will use the CRIS-Cafcass linkage to explore the characteristics, needs and service use of mothers who accessed mental health services during pregnancy or postnatally and underwent care proceedings in the family courts.

The Clinical Record Interactive Search (CRIS) system is a computer system that allows researchers at the NIHR Maudsley Biomedical Research Centre (BRC) to carry out research using information from South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust clinical records.
