Long term outcomes of first episode of psychosis in the postpartum period; A retrospective cohort study of women treated at a secondary mental health care provider in London, UK
Reasoning behind the project: ‘Postpartum psychosis is a severe psychiatric disorder, with known risk factors. However, there is limited understanding of long-term clinical outcomes for women who present with first onset of psychosis in the postpartum period (within 6 months of a child’s date of birth).’ What the project will do: This project will use the CRIS data base, combined with HES data to investigate the clinical outcomes of women who have presented to SLAM services between 2008 – 2023 with a first episode of postpartum psychosis. This will contribute to improved understanding of the risk of future illness (both perinatal and non-perinatal) for these women.
