Factors associated with hospitalization in care home residents

Admission to general hospitals can result in harms to people with dementia. Many hospital admissions are appropriate to deliver essential physical care, but other admissions may be preventable. We want to find out what makes people in care homes more likely to go to hospital and whether something can be done to prevent unnecessary admissions.
