What is the uptake and experiences of inpatients held under section of occupational therapy ward groups?

Evidence suggests people with serious mental illness find it difficult to access OT services which puts them at risk of occupational injustice and occupational deprivation. Occupational therapy services can improve the physical, mental and social health of individuals with severe mental health problems; however, we need to learn more about who accesses occupational therapy services and the impact of their engagement. This project will provide more understanding of people’s uptake and experience of occupational therapy services and help to improve access to interventions and groupwork for people detained in mental health hospitals.
