Suicide in Intellectual disability (ID)
In spite of National Strategies on Suicide, there is little written on people with ID who are thought to be one of society’s most vulnerable groups in terms of increased morbidity, prevalence of mental disorders, socio economic status etc. This research aims to look at the prevalence of suicide in this group accessing SLaM mental health services and into characteristics that might lead to greater risk of suicide. Finally we would seek to establish whether people in their local population accessing SLaM services with ID have an increased risk of suicide, suicide attempts or suicidal ideation.
