Describing current and past smoking and cannabis use recorded in mental healthcare.

The CRIS team is currently carrying out work to improve the ways in which recorded information on smoking (tobacco) and cannabis use can be ascertained from text fields and used in research projects. This project will apply these developments in order to describe recorded smoking and cannabis use across a broad population of people receiving mental health services, investigating variations by demographic characteristics (e.g. age, sex) and clinical variables (e.g. diagnosis).

The Clinical Record Interactive Search (CRIS) system is a computer system that allows researchers at the NIHR Maudsley Biomedical Research Centre (BRC) to carry out research using information from South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust clinical records.
