Pilot qualitative study on the clinical records of men and women with self-harm and suicide who are exposed to or perpetrating domestic abuse(DA).

  • Applicant: Vishal Bhavsar
  • Project ID: 25-074

Reasoning:
We know that domestic abuse is a factor in suicide and self-harm, but we do not have evidence on how to medically respond to self-harm and suicide when DA is occurring, e.g. through specific training or treatments/interventions.
Describing the project:
I want to examine patient notes in depth for a small number of patients(e.g. 10) who have either been admitted for self-harm, or died by suicide, and where domestic abuse(DA) has been recorded in the notes, to understand medical responses in this situation
