Patterns of Long-Term Psychiatric Medication Use and Discontinuation: A Retrospective Cohort Study Using UK Primary and Secondary Care Data

  • Applicant: Christoph Mueller
  • Project ID: 25-109

Many people use psychiatric medications long-term but sometimes stopping is necessary for various reasons. This study will examine how often older adults stop psychiatric medications, which factors influence successful stopping, and will investigate mental health outcomes after stopping. The results will guide safer prescribing and support balanced decisions about continuing or stopping long-term psychiatric treatment.
