Investigating the antecedents to psychiatric hospital admission amongst people with intellectual disability and autistic people
There has been an over-reliance on in-patient psychiatric care for people with a learning disability and autistic people; identifying early signs that someone may need hospital admission could help to mobilise community resources, so that people can be safely and effectively supported at home. This project will investigate the characteristics of people with a learning disability and autistic people who are admitted to psychiatric hospital and how their clinical status and service use changes in the run-up to a hospital admission.
