Qualitative study on the views of service users and clinicians on the use of prediction models in mental health care

Prediction models use information from many people such as age, gender, and medical history, to predict how likely it is that an individual may develop a certain health condition or how likely a new treatment will work for them. These models have been successfully used to inform treatment decisions and to personalise and improve health care in certain fields of medicine, but they have had limited success in the field of mental health. Through interviews, this study seeks to identify the views of service users and clinicians on the use of prediction models that predict an individual’s risk of developing a mental health condition in the future, with the hope of informing their future development and use in mental health care.”
