Understanding mental illness and the treatment access among service users and carers from Sierra Leone living in London.

1. To identify and develop a tentative or range of EMs of mental illness in the Sierra Leonean population in London. 2. To explore and compare the different EMs between service users, their carers and significant others. 3. To examine the impact of EMs on the types of treatment sought when service users become mentally ill. 4. To contribute towards the development of mental health services which are culturally relevant and sensitive.
