Psychosis in patients prescribed medical cannabis

Medical cannabis was legalised in the UK several years ago. Heavy cannabis use is associated with an increased risk of psychosis. Several studies, many published by the cannabis industry, suggest that the risk of medical cannabis causing psychosis is very low. However, these studies are limited by high loss to follow-up and poor case ascertainment.

The Clinical Record Interactive Search (CRIS) system is a computer system that allows researchers at the NIHR Maudsley Biomedical Research Centre (BRC) to carry out research using information from South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust clinical records.
