AVATAR3

AVATAR therapy is a blended digital psychological intervention that uses specialised computer software to facilitate dialogues between voices hearers and a digital representation of the main voice they hear (the avatar). Service users create both a visual and audio representation of the avatar with a clinician using face generation and voice synthesis software. Current face and voice synthesis models do not adequately reflect the diversity of people who access SLaM services, which may limit how relevant and engaging the therapy feels.

This project will analyse anonymised demographic information from people who have accessed psychosis services to improve the cultural and linguistic representativeness of digital voice and face options within the therapy software. For instance, demographic data may help inform customisation options like skin tone, facial structure, facial characteristics, hairstyle, accent and speaking style.”
