Cognitive Remediation Therapy (CRT): Is it a feasible and acceptable psychological treatment for borderline personality disorder (BPD)? | C4C

  • Project ID: 15-045

Borderline personality disorder (BPD) affects 1-2% of the population and is associated with high levels of service use, challenging behaviour and self-harm, among other things. Thinking skills problems, in memory, concentrating and being organised, are common in BPD and are likely to negatively affect quality of life and make it difficult to achieve everyday goals. Cognitive Remediation Therapy (CRT) is a psychological treatment which aims to improve thinking skills and has been shown to be effective for people with a schizophrenia diagnosis. We aim to test the relationships between thinking skills problems in BPD and difficulties in everyday life and then to assess whether CRT might be a useful intervention to help with thinking skills problems, which then has a positive effect on everyday life goals.
