Short and long-term outcomes in children exposed to lithium in utero: a cohort study

Lithium therapy is widely recommended as a first-line treatment for bipolar disorder. However, infants exposed to lithium in pregnancy may be at risk of toxicity and other side effects. This study will compare lithium-exposed to non-lithium exposed pregnancies in women diagnosed with a diagnosis of bipolar disorder or major depressive disorder. The three main outcomes of interest are pregnancy complications, congenital abnormalities and short-term outcomes after birth
