The Maudsley Ontology

  • Applicant: Richard Jackson
  • Project ID: 16-054

This project is an extension of earlier text mining and NLP work to capture and define mental health symptomatology. The ambition is to use the CRIS data to inform how symptoms are described by clinician’s ‘in the real world’. We will use the Google Tensorflow software library and the Python programming language to conduct the analysis, using the popular word2vec algorithm. The results will be organised into an ontology and submitted to the Human Phenotype Ontology (HPO) organisation for approval. No patient level data will be required for this submission.

The Clinical Record Interactive Search (CRIS) system is a computer system that allows researchers at the NIHR Maudsley Biomedical Research Centre (BRC) to carry out research using information from South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust clinical records.
