Four Steps to Safety

Four Steps to Safety is a Health Foundation-funded quality improvement project covering SLaM and Devon Partnership NHS Foundation Trust. It aims to reduce violence on inpatient units using a combination of interventions applied as a package to each ward. King’s College London are evaluating the success of the program. A particular difficulty has arisen in the measurement of violence – wards implementing the program are encouraged to report violence and therefore it is likely that incident reports provide a biased view of the success of otherwise of the program. We will use CRIS to separately extract accounts of violence in the casenotes, providing an alternative measure. UK-CRIS data from DPT will be used later on.
