The role of clozapine and other antipsychotics in the development of obsessive compulsive symptoms

  • Applicant: Edward Chesney
  • Project ID: 17-085

A proportion of people with psychotic disorders suffer from obsessions, compulsions and intrusive thoughts. Some of these symptoms may be due to the disorder itself, but some studies have suggested that antipsychotics with antiserotonergic effects (such as clozapine) may lead to the development of new obsessive compulsive symptoms (OCS). This study will aim to assess the impact of different antipsychotics on the development of obsessive compulsive symptoms over time in patients treated with antipsychotics.
