Are Peripheral Inflammatory Markers Predictive of Clinical Characteristics and Outcome in Psychosis
Routine blood tests, such as white cell count and C- reactive protein, provide a valuable insight into the degree systemic bodily inflammation and are commonly referred to as peripheral inflammatory markers. A rise in peripheral inflammatory markers has previously been demonstrated in psychosis; however, its significance remains uncertain. In patients with psychosis admitted to a psychiatric ward who have undergone an admission blood test, we will investigate where there is a relationship between peripheral Inflammatory markers and clinical characteristics /outcome.
