This study will compare a cohort of patients who made major suicide attempts resulting in illness or injuries that required an intensive care admission against all patients admitted to acute general hospital with illness or injury related to self-harm. We would compare outcomes in the years following this including whether they required further psychiatric care, whether they had further hospital admissions for self-harm, and mortality.
