A Re-audit: Assessment and treatment of Depression in children and young people, how compliant is SLAM with NICE guidelines?

  • Applicant: Diana Shammas
  • Project ID: 15-051

National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) published its guidelines on management of depression in C&YPin 2005 (see Appendix). The first phase of the audit cycle was performed in 2010-2011 with an objective to compare the initial management of C&YP with depression in SLaM-wide Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) (Tier 3 community services and Tier 4 specialist Mood Disorder Clinic) with the guidelines produced by NICE (2005). The second phase (the present study) will complete the audit cycle by reinvestigating the current practice to establish the level of compliance with the NICE guidelines in order to find out what progress has been made in the last 4 years since the recommendations from the first phase, whether the changes recommended in the first phase were being implemented and to what extent.
