AntiNMDA receptor encephalitis in SLaM
Encephalitis (inflammation of the brain) has multiple etiologies and the autoimmune cause (autoantibodies or T cells that erroneously attack neuronal or glial antigens) is increasingly recognized as a major contributor to the morbidity associated with this disease. The encephalitis caused by antibodies against the receptor of NMDA is the most frequent autoimmune cause of encephalitis but little is known beyond the acute stage of the disease. This project aims to evaluate the burden of this neuropsychiatric condition in mental health services.
