Assault hospitalisation in people with mental health conditions: a clinical epidemiological study of time trends, mortality and multimorbidity

People with mental health conditions are more likely to use hospital care (including emergency care) for assault, but changes over time (including during Covid) and impact on physical health(through accumulation of physical health conditions and ultimately mortality) are not well understood. The project will use CRIS data linked to Hospital Episode Statistics to examine how the rate of assault hospitalisation in SLaM service users has changed over time (since 2007, until 2022), and the association between assault hospitalisation and hospitalisation for other physical health reasons, and mortality (building on recent work using text mining).
