ATTEND: Adolescents and carers using mindfulness Therapy To END depression

  • Applicant: Ching-Yin Lee

The ATTEND team is looking to find new, effective treatment for depression and low mood in adolescents; that’s why we developed the Mindfulness for Adolescents and Carers therapy (MAC) which will teach young people (aged 15-18) mindfulness skills to cope with low mood and respond to negative thoughts with a non-judgmental, curious, and kind attitude. This study will investigate if MAC can help young people and their families learn to recognize negative thoughts and feelings, as well as to equip them with effective stress-coping strategies; by comparing mental health outcomes of young people who have had MAC and those who have not, we will be able to see if MAC is effective in reducing low mood and depressive symptoms amongst teenagers.
