Cannabis withdrawal and admission to PICU

  • Applicant: Edward Chesney

Many patients with psychosis use cannabis. If they are admitted to hospital, they are no longer able to access the drug. Cannabis withdrawal can cause symptoms such as insomnia, irritability and anger which peak at around 4 days. We plan to examine whether patients who use cannabis are more likely to be transferred to an intensive care ward around this time.
