Capacity to consent to treatment and admission audit

Clinicians should record in the clinical notes confirmation that they have tested the mental capacity of a patient when checking their (a) consent to admission and (b) consent to treatment. This is recorded in Events, and therefore free text. The Trust is required to demonstrate that this is audited to check compliance and follow up where the assessments are not being completed.
