Characterising a cohort of SLAM patients exposed to clinically identified domestic abuse.

  • Applicant: Diza D'Silva
  • Project ID: 26-007

This project will use an existing tool (a Natural Language Processing application) to scan patient records and identify people whose notes suggest they may have experienced domestic abuse, helping us understand their social and health characteristics. We will also assess how accurate the tool is by checking how often it correctly identifies cases and how often it makes mistakes. The findings will inform a future study that will aim to improve how domestic abuse is recognised and recorded in mental health services, using the same tool to measure any improvement.”
