Characterising the SLaM adult ASD and ADHD cohort

  • Applicant: Daisy Kornblum
  • Project ID: 21-018

Autism spectrum disorders (ASD) and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) are common developmental disorders, yet they may not be accurately diagnosed until adulthood. Often those with these conditions, who come late to diagnosis, have other mental health conditions (anxiety, depression, psychosis etc), may have complex social care needs, or have had involvement with the criminal justice system. We aim to better understand the needs of our adult service users in SLaM who have an official or suspected diagnosis of ASD or ADHD, and will explore their wider mental health needs, patterns of mental health service use and whether they have accessed specialist clinic services.
