Comparing the clinical and demographic profiles of those with care experience to those living with families of origin admitted to General Adolescent Units

  • Applicant: Olivia Tomaselli
  • Project ID: 25-105

Children looked after by social care experience consistently high levels of mental ill-health, with some requiring inpatient admission, yet very little is known about the characteristics (e.g., gender, ethnicity) and clinical needs of these young people. This research aims to address this gap, by asking which young people who are looked after by social care are more likely to have inpatient admissions, how do their length of stays compare to those living with families of origin and what are the reasons for any delays to discharge.
