Comparison of smoking attributable hospital admission for people with mental health conditions with general population.
Smoking prevalence among people with mental health conditions are higher than general population and Smoking prevalence is significantly higher in people admitted to hospital than the general UK population. However, smoking attributable hospital admissions among people with mental health conditions compared with general population was not studied before. Furthermore, we are planning to investigate health outcomes after smoking attributable hospitalisation among people with mental health conditions compared with general population. If we can demonstrate that people with mental health conditions have worse health outcomes after smoking attributable hospital admissions, this will inform policy makers to provide stop smoking services particularly focusing on people with mental health conditions.
