Dementia symptom ontology
The diagnosis of dementia is difficult because people with different conditions may have overlapping symptoms, and people with the same diagnosis may have different symptoms. We believe it is important to develop a new diagnostic system which is more flexible and fine-grained.
We have developed a systematic symptom list (called an ontology) of symptoms seen in dementia which we will apply to SLaM electronic patient record data in order to classify every patient with the terms from the symptom list instead of with their diagnosis
