Developing Digital Phynotyping and Patient Similarity Measures in CRIS Using Machine Learning and Text Mining

  • Applicant: Thomas Searle
  • Project ID: 18-113

Anxiety disorders and depression are amongst the most common mental health conditions. Patient profiles, treatment interventions and associated outcomes can vary greatly. This project aims to understand the multi-faceted nature of these conditions by applying novel machine learning and natural language processing techniques to the electronic health record of patients across both physical and mental health at scale.

The Clinical Record Interactive Search (CRIS) system is a computer system that allows researchers at the NIHR Maudsley Biomedical Research Centre (BRC) to carry out research using information from South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust clinical records.
